Ain’t Over - idesia

A song that highlights perseverance and acceptance of destiny, Ain’t Over is an animated music video that combines rotoscope, 2D animations, and scans of Shibori indigo ink dye on canvas. We chose the emotive qualities in the purple-bluesy inks against simple renderings from live footage of the singer to isolate the way the musical textures interwove with the visuals.

This music video features the singer in a day dream with colors of indigo blues, against a flat bright white background to contrast both the watery canvas textures and the geometric edges. Through these minimal design elements, we wanted to focus on visual-music and the dynamics between feelings of emptiness which reflected in the song’s lyrics and the soulful melodies that show both vulnerability and empowerment. Ultimately, the song’s message drives the ending with a sense of hope as the artist meets the other musician to busk in the subway, a scene that reveals the artist is on her way to continue what she’s doing no matter what.
