Ritterman - Jensen Engineering

An animation loop series for musician/producer’s EP Ritterman is a collection of digital charcoal drawings for each track. The designs are inpsired by the gritty textural and gestural drawings combined with 2D animation. The artist was drawn to the expressive qualities from charcoal and its smudged smokiness. Together, the loops are parallel to techniques of music production, chops and sampling as the musician worked with several writers and singers as well. 

The animation features objects and characters that morph in and out. Both the movement and designs follow the energy of each track’s mood while juxtaposing geometric forms and organic ones. Combining the bold textures and composition, the animations are little windows into each song.
